The File Explorer tool in Windows 11 is getting some intriguing updates.

Windows 11 is getting some exciting enhancements for its File Explorer app, which is the default file manager for the operating system. In this article, we will take a look at some of the new features and improvements that are coming soon to File Explorer on Windows 11.

One of the most noticeable changes is the new command bar, which replaces the old ribbon-style menu with a sleek and minimalist interface. The command bar has new icons for common actions, such as cut, copy, paste, rename, share, and delete. It also has a new "New" menu to create a new folder, shortcut, or document. The command bar also has three new drop-down menus that give you more options to sort, group, view, and customize your files and folders.

Another major change is the introduction of tabs in File Explorer. Tabs allow you to open multiple folders and drive locations in one window, making switching between them and managing your files easier. You can create a new tab by clicking on the plus (+) button next to the existing tabs, or by using the Ctrl + T keyboard shortcut. You can also close a tab by clicking on the X button on the tab, or by using the Ctrl + W keyboard shortcut. Right-clicking on a tab will open a context menu that lets you close other tabs or close all tabs on the right.

File Explorer also has a new Home page that shows you your quick-access folders, favourites, and recent files. The Home page is accessible from the navigation pane on the left side of the window, where you can also find other locations such as This PC, OneDrive, Network, and Recycle Bin. The navigation pane has been redesigned with new icons and styles to match the overall look and feel of Windows 11.

One more improvement that File Explorer has received is the modernization of the details pane. The details pane shows you information about the selected file or folder, such as its name, type, size, date modified, and more. You can also preview images and documents in the details pane without opening them in another app. To enable the details pane, choose "Details pane" in the View menu and then toggle the pane with an easy-access button located on the right side of the command bar.

These are some of the enhancements that Windows 11 is bringing to File Explorer. These changes aim to make File Explorer more user-friendly, modern, and consistent with the rest of the operating system.
